Emotional Freedom Technique

What is Emotional Freedom Technique?

Mahatma Gandhi once said ”Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.” It is not easy for anyone to control their thoughts, to take the anxiety and stress that comes with life and manage it. And for those who are struggling with the disease of alcohol and drug addiction, it can be nearly impossible to manage the amount of stress and anxiety that befalls them. It is like the weight of the world on your shoulders. And if there was only a way to lighten the load, then things might be better.

The Beachcomber understands the struggle of the recovering alcoholic or addict. We understand the difficulty of managing your thoughts and anxieties while going through recovery. That is why we now offer a new and exciting therapeutic method known as Emotional Freedom Technique, or emotional freedom techniques. It is a new and innovative method to help those in recovery live a little easier.

Emotional Freedom Techniques was originally created by Gary Craig, a Stanford Alumnus. Since its introduction Emotional Freedom Technique has been recognized by the American Psychological association, and has been used in a number of cases to help reduce stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, and improve the overall mental health of the patient.

Emotional Freedom Technique is similar to acupuncture in that it stimulates the same energy meridians in the body without the use of needles.

By tapping on certain locations of the human body the patient inputs kinetic energy onto specific electromagnetic meridians. While this is being done the patient visualizes the specific area of stress or anxiety. Along with voice affirmations this method helps to clear the psychological blockage of the individual and brings them to a more peaceful state of mind.

Emotional Freedom Technique has had very affluent results in recent years. A study was conducted in the Journal of Clinical Psychology that found that patients who underwent Emotional Freedom Technique had a significantly higher rate of overcoming phobias. Our own skilled therapists have undergone training for Emotional Freedom Technique and have witnessed the results.

Therapist Trey Crier stated after one session of Emotional Freedom Technique “we were going through the Emotional Freedom Technique therapy in the group session and a pack of cigarettes was tossed in the middle of the room. The session was so powerful that someone had decided to give up smoking while in the session”.

This new form of therapy is a safe and healthy alternative to drug therapy to deal with emotional stress and anxiety. It is closely tied to the Beachcombers Holistic approach and our belief that finding peace and serenity with oneself will help you on the path to sobriety.

“I went to the Beachcomber feeling empty. I wasn’t really wanting to but everyone told me I needed to. I was told in June 2012 that the counselors were in recovery, and they believed in God. When I heard GOD I went. I felt like it was a calling. At first when I got there I felt very uncomfortable and in seconds the lady at the desk made me laugh and suddenly I didn’t feel so bad. My favorite counselor was Trey. He was very strong and firm and a BIG Believer in God. The others were extremely nice also. Since feeling so at ease I felt completely comfortable and I opened up and shared. Not being judged but rather supported I felt free. So I thank the staff you will always have a place in my heart.”

“Beachcomber is an excellent facility. It was the one and last place that my Son successfully sought treatment. The staff was firm but very caring. They always took my phone calls and I had weekly updates with their now Clinical Director Genna. She has kept in touch with all of to this day, and we celebrate my Son’s sober date together each year, as I truly believe she was most instrumental in his recovery. Addiction treatment is a difficult industry and I have the utmost respect for those who work in it. Beachcomber has been around for a very long time and that’s due to its immense success rate.”

“A welcoming and warm environment in which all employees deeply care about the well being of those who walk through the doors. Director Jenna was professional, intelligent, and sought to provide the best for all patients. Would hands down recommend to anyone seeking a treatment facility.”

“I was in desperate need for my loved one. She was so broken and without hope upon arrival. It took 2 minutes to change her feelings from hopelessness to hopeful and forward thinking and a sense of safety. They created an empathetic, loving, welcoming environment. The therapy is intense and professional according to her. I am so grateful to Beach Combers and it’s caring staff for helping her and putting her on a strong path of recovery. Thank you a million times overs. ”
